Senior Estimator - Building Construction West Midlands Our client is one the largest and leading Construction Companies in the UK. With an expertise in specific market sectors such as: Commercial, Education, Health, Industrial and Leisure. They now have an exciting opportunity based at their Head Office for a Senior Estimator. Reporting directly to the Estimating Director, you will be responsible for and manage other members of the team including, an Estimating Clerk, Assistant Estimators and Estimators. In return you can expect an excellent basic salary together with a very attractive car / car allowance, health, pension and bonus. Responsibilities 1. Prepare enquiry schedules and liaise with the Buying Department in the in the selection of appropriate companies from whom quotations should be sought. ? Obtain sufficient quotations to enable valued commercial judgements at the tender settlement meeting. ? New suppliers sought for the Company Database. 2. Produce tenders from first principles including analytical full rate build up in an accurate and well detailed format. ? Continual refinement of analytical data derived from site feedback ? Produce Bills of Quantities from plans and specifications ? Produce Contractors Proposals Document for submission with the tender. 3. Identify and analyse alternative designs, or products, to give a commercial advantage to the Company tender bids. 4. Identify and analyse risks and produce risk register. ? Risk register to be made available for the tender settlement meeting. 5. Prepare site preliminary costs in accordance with the current Company trading requirements. 6. Attend tender settlement meetings ensuring all relevant cost information is available for presentation and complete the tender as instructed. ? Provide suitably prepared tender documentation including tender analysis, subcontractor comparison and risk register to a standard to satisfy the Regional Management Board. 7. On submission of a successful bid chair a ?Hand Over` meeting and present all documentation to the relevant site personnel in accordance with the Company Quality Management System. Ensure all parties are aware of the nature of the works and any special conditions affecting the contract, commercial ?angles` etc. ? Site team to fully understand how the bid was put together and to have clear explanation of the identified risks and opportunities associated with each scheme. 8. Maintain regular contact with the Production Department and obtain feedback on costs, technical and commercial performance. ? Working relationship based on mutual respect developed and improved with the Production staff. Seek assistance from the Production staff for input into cost estimates.
