This is an outstanding opportunity join the leading M&E contractor in the UK, they have an interesting and exciting order book that that is full of innovative projects leading well into 2010. They are looking to expand the Midlands operation and are keen to employ the right staff to complement the already solid teams.
Currently there is a need for a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to work from the office in Birmingham or be project based in Birmingham city centre.
Responsibilities & Objectives
?Control of all functional surveying and commercial activities within a Team or specific project to support the achievement of business objectives.
?To provide support and advice to other members of the operational and surveying staff.
?To assist in the compilation and issuing of reports to Senior Managers within the Business, advising operational and business positions of all projects under their jurisdiction.
?Ensure all Works are accurately measured and valued in accordance with the terms of the contract/sub-contract to support achievement of maximum value and profitability on all projects.
Main Duties
1.To accurately report and monitor on a monthly basis the trading position of each contract. Manage the preparation of all project cost forecasts on monthly basis, with appropriate advice to the Team.
2.The financial and commercial management of Mechanical and/or Electrical contracts.
3.To identify and implement correct use of specific terms and conditions for supply chain enquiries and orders.
4.Ensuring Company sub-contract procedure is followed on all projects.
5.Implementation of sub-contract controls including procurement, payment, and settlement of Final Account.
6.Supervising and overseeing all project surveying functions within the Team.
7.Reporting of cash collection on all Team projects, including recovery of aged debts and retentions.
8.Vetting Contract Documentation upon receipt from our Client to ensure compatibility with original tender/bid documentation.
9. Management and assistance in monthly Application, Certification and payment cycle. Ensure satisfactory agreement of certification amounts, and timely payment of sums due.
10. Liaison with line management for provision of accurate trading forecasts and other financial data on a monthly basis.
11. Identification and management of project risks, with appropriate advice to Project Teams upon the implications, relevance and application of contract terms and conditions.
12. Prevention of major variation account under measurement. Management and assistance in preparation and submission of all variation costs and substantiation.
13. Identification of Contractual/Commercial issues including preparation of Delay Notices, Extension of Time requests, Loss and/or Expense submissions.
14. Development and training of surveying resource as agreed with line management.
Employee Specification
Minimum HNC Building Quantity Surveying
Minimum five years post qualification experience including:
? Measurement of services
? Negotiation with contractors and sub-contractors
? Working knowledge of various Standard Forms of Contract/Sub-Contract
? Proven relevant experience as M & E Surveyor/Senior Surveyor
? Experience in supervision of other surveying staff
